Adult Ministries

 

Fairmount Avenue United Methodist Church believe that following Jesus is a life-long pursuit.  Growing in our faith, our community, and our service; Adult Ministries at Fairmount Avenue UMC offers a variety of ways for individuals to deepen their faith experience.  Check the church calendar for specific meeting times and dates.

Sunday School – Sunday School is for everyone.  Our Adult Sunday School Class features a time of large group learning and then small group break out discussions.  Led with excellence, this class is open to all adults and meets every Sunday at 9am.

Friendship Class – With a long history and strong tradition, the Friendship class meets monthly and features guest presenters and deep friendships.

Book Groups – Fairmount Avenue UMC has two ongoing book clubs.  The UMW hosts a book club that features a variety of book selections from multiple genres.  The Spiritual Book Club reads books that emphasize spiritual topics.

Care Chain

Prayer – We would love to pray for you! Our Prayer Shawl ministry meets regularly and is open to everyone.  If you are in need of prayer, please call the church office to be connected to Pastor Shawna or to be added to the prayer chain.  Weekly, in worship, we pray for specific needs as presented on cards during the offering.

United Methodist Women – UMW is a ministry for women with a heart for compassion and justice work in the world.  All women are welcome.

Partnership with St. Alban’s – Fairmount Ave UMC and St. Albans Church of God in Christ are partners in ministry, building the Body of Christ with intention for more than 20 years!  Crossing denominational, racial, theological, and cultural distinctions, both churches have committed to growing the fully reconciled church through worship, study, and service.  We worship together twice a year (Thanksgiving and Good Friday,) and we serve together monthly through our joint nursing home ministry.

Parish Nurse – Muriel Olson, our Parish nurse, serves to increase the overall health and wellness of our church.  From our annual flu shot clinic, to weekly blood pressure checks, to visitation ministry, and congregational care, there are many opportunities to serve with the Parish Nurse Ministry.  Contact Muriel if you are interested in being involved.

Food Fellowship – We are good at eating at Fairmount Ave UMC!  Every week we gather for coffee hour, before or after worship (depending upon the season.)

Church Library – Our Church Library is second to none.  Thoughtfully curated, the books in our library are free to check out and offer many opportunities for all ages to learn and grow.

Covenant Discipleship  – Covenant discipleship groups are small groups that meet weekly for Bible study and prayer.  If you are interested in joining a CD group, please contact the church office.

Wednesday Meal – September – May all are invited to join in a community meal at church just before Wed programs begin.  Dinner is served from 5:45- 6:30pm.
