Why Jesus?
A speaker series featuring diverse voices from the Twin Cities, reflecting on how faith, culture, and life intersect; and why we continue to follow Jesus in a changing, often polarizing world.

Part of the Wednesday Evening Adult Learning Program.
Join the conversation.  Public welcome.

Wednesday Evenings  6:15-7:30pm
October 4 –  November 8

Some of our Featured Speakers Include:

Oct 4 – Shawn Moore is the pastor of the Beloved Community, a professor of reconciliation and anthropology, and passionate about community.  A man of many talents, Shawn is a krav maga instructor, wearer of kilts, and former police officer.  He is a church planter in the process of forming an intentionally diverse community that fully reflects the Gospel, engaging in intentional community development.

Oct 11 – Jeffry Martin is the Deputy Director, Office of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity at City of Saint Paul.  Jeffry is the former President of St. Paul’s NAACP Chapter, holds a law degree and a seminary degree, and lives in the Highland Park neighborhood.  He has been an advocate for justice in St. Paul and beyond for most of his career.

Oct 25 – Tyler Sit is a lover of Minnesota, a United Methodist pastor, and the son of a Chinese immigrant.  His parents met at a disco dancing class, which he feels set the tone pretty well for the rest of his life.  He has been an environmental justice advocate since his Cub Scout days (though he didn’t know it yet).  Tyler has witnessed and lived among religious communities around the globe: indigenous communities in Ecuador, Jewish and Palestinian communities in Israel, Methodist missions in Zimbabwe, and–most recently–the Dalai Lama’s Tibetan Buddhist settlement in Northern India.

Nov 1 – Dan Collison is Senior Pastor of First Covenant Church, Minneapolis, a Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research Fellow, the Director of Downtown Partnerships for the Minneapolis Downtown Council-Downtown Improvement District and the Executive Director for the East Town Partnership and the 2020 Partners in Downtown Minneapolis. He received a Doctoral degree in Ministry from Fuller Seminary (CA), a Master’s degree in Divinity from Bethel Seminary (MN), and a Bachelor’s degree from The Eastman School of Music (NY). Before becoming a pastor and civic leader, Dan and his wife, Holly ran an adult foster care home for men with developmental disabilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
