This Lent, at Fairmount Avenue UMC we are embracing 40 Days of reflection, intention, and preparation. It is a time of waiting, listening, and embracing the suffering of this world so that we might better understand the miracle of resurrection.
As a way to more fully walk into this season of waiting, we will be collectively listening for inspiration and challenge through a collective reading of the Bible. Pastor Shawna has divided the Bible into 40 readable sections, so that as people sign up for a section and read, collectively we will have read the entire Bible as a community over Lent. A journal will be located in the Wesley Room for people to write and share the things that are gleaning from God’s word, as a public record of this communal journey and as a way to share with one another the challenges we are experiencing. It is a spiritual practice of listening, reflecting, and sharing.
As a way to model this communal experience, FAUMC staff are reading Psalms 100-150 together and sharing our gleanings here for all to experience. Check out their reflections here.
If you would like to participate email Pastor Shawna – firstname.lastname@example.org– your thoughts and gleanings, along with what you are reading and we will share them on the website.
