Fairmount Avenue members gather on Wednesday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. for about 25 minutes of silent prayer together. For more information, contact Rev. Marci Jamison.
For over 25 years, Fairmount Avenue Members have supported and sustained each other through a prayer chain. We have recently redesigned the prayer chain to make use of e-mail technology. The prayer chain is activated by calling the church office. The calling tree and the e-mail chain are then put into motion. To be included on the prayer chain please contact the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate if you would prefer to receive emails or be called with prayer requests.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
If you enjoy knitting and/or crocheting and feel called to use your skill to be a blessing for others, we would love to have you join the prayer shawl group. The purpose of the FAUMC Prayer Shawl Ministry Group is to wrap the recipient in God’s love. Prayer shawls are presented to people in difficult situations, those in time of transition and occasionally in a time of celebration or appreciation. The presentation is usually done by 2 members and the recipient is also blessed during this time.
The meeting begins with prayer and then five minutes of silence as we begin to knit and gather ourselves into a spirit of knitting God’s love, warmth and care into the shawls. Then we have great fellowship and prayerful knitting until the hour is up. If there are completed shawls we bless those before the closing prayer. You can be a member of this group and never come to a meeting (some knit prayerfully at home). For some it is a wonderful way to contribute to this ministry even in the midst of a hectic life.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry Group meets the 2nd Monday from 7:00 – 8:00 pm and the 4th Sunday 3:00 – 4:00 pm. All (women, men, teens, children) are welcome to participate. Members find it is a blessing to them as well as to the recipients. For more information contact Muriel Olson, Parish Nurse by calling the church office 651-699-1335
